Over the past two decades, multiple pneumatic systems offering variable position output have been introduced into the automation industry and presented as either low cost alternatives to electric actuators, or as flexible replacements to conventional pneumatic controls. However, these actuators often lack the speed and controllability to provide a functional alternative to mechanical stops and cushions.
