Jaqua Expands its Buttercream Spa Line a al Marie Antoinette |
|
When they showed up almost 9 years ago at the Nordstrom buying office, sans appointment but with their novel spa-in-a-pink-paintcan line of beauty products in hand, the sisters behind Jaqua Beauty never anticipated they would end up grossing $1 million in their first year of business, and doubling profits for the last three. Their uber-girlie presentation presciently jumped onto the strong trend surrounding the return to more conservative values & behaviors: traditional big weddings, attending church services, and in the fashion arena, men dressing in suits and manly attire, while women out in full-force clad in feminine dresses, teetering heels, and even flowers tucked into their coiffures. Jaqua is now expanding its bestselling Buttercream Frosting - is there possibly a girlier product?! - to the pink-and-white striped & polka dot festooned $20 Pink Buttercream Boudoir Collection, which includes a soy candle, French milled soap, and a marabou-feather puff. "We were channeling Marie Antoinette for this feminine collection," co-owner Jennifer Jaqua told WWD, about this extremely feminine period of fashion & beauty history. |
