Sir Elton recently announced the launch of his Elton John Fireside Home Fragrance Collection in collaboration with Bath & Body Works, which includes a scented candle, fragranced oil and a plug-in device. Expected to generate more than $10 million in sales the first year alone, the collection will appear in 1,700 stores and on the website, with proceeds going to the Elton John AIDS Foundation. "This project will raise urgently needed dollars [for] AIDS research," John told WWD. Ten percent (around $1 million) is expected to be raised for the charity in the first year. While the celebrity “designer” trend is going into overdrive, concurrent with the holiday sales season, it’s refreshing to see a celeb divert some of that spending power to pad something other than their own bank account.
