It was another great week on Orange State. This week Matt and Rashaud talked about Central New York's high school graduation rates. They are troubled by the obvious difference between the urban and suburban schools. Matt rants on why the issues in the education system are everybody's fault and the blame should not solely land on the teachers' shoulders. Rashaud brings the headlines including the announcement of how President Barack Obama will use the money he won with the Nobel Peace Prize. No Orange State would be complete without local news. It was an exciting opening week of March on Orange State. The Albany Times-Union's Casey Seiler made a return appearance on Orange State to talk about Governor David Paterson's problems including a possible cover up of a domestic violence charge against aide David Johnson and the alledged acceptance of gifts including World Series tickets. The Orange State guys discuss President Obama's healthcare summit. Rashaud brought us the day's headlines, including the breaking news that Governor David Paterson will not be running for re-election. The guys also discussed the death of a Sea World trainer and whether killer whales should even be kept in captivity. Erich returned to Orange State with the local news and our final Olympic update on the 2010 Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver. Matt, CJ, and Rashaud also discussed the current state of U.S.-China relations in the wake of President Obama's visit with the Dalai Lama, which China protested. One more major story of the week was that some states are cutting certain Medicaid benefits. Rashaud gave us the headlines of the day and Erich brought the CNY Local News. The Orange State gang is back to start a new decade! CJ, Rashaud, and Matt break down President Obama's State of the Union Address, in which Obama stated that creating jobs will be the first priority. Rashaud gave the headlines of the day. The White House is eyeing to move the 9/11 Trial out of New York City, mostly due to the cost of the trials that could last a couple of years. In lighter news, a three-year-old saved his grandmother who was having a seizure by dialing 911. Becca brought us the Central New York news, including a breakdown of Syracuse Mayor Stephanie Miner's first State of the City Address. Matt defeated Becca in the Orange State of Disarray and Jim highlighted some fantastic dopes in the Audacity of Dopes.
