Response Changes, Patient Misunderstandings, and Stayin Alive |
|
This week's show leads off with a story out of San Antonio, Texas looking at changes in their fire department EMS response limiting the dispatch of ambulances. We also take a look at two studies about doctors underestimating their patient's medical knowledge and understanding. Sad news on more EMS line of duty deaths this week with five providers dying in three separate incidents, two of the incidents related to helicopter accidents. Finally, a wrap up with the new CPR instructional song of choice, Stayin' Alive by the Bee Gees. This song just about perfectly matches the rate needed for good quality CPR compressions, not to mention the title lends a bit to the endeavor. |
